All's fair in love and war
Wendy Liu should be delighted to be her best friend's maid of honor. But after years spent avoiding the bride's brother - aka the boy who once broke her heart - she's now trapped with him during an endless amount of wedding festivities. Luckily she's had time to perfect her poker face, and engaging Noah Denning in a little friendly competition might just prove that she's over him for good...
Noah Denning is determined to make his little sister's wedding memorable. But it seems Wendy is trying to outdo him at every turn. Challenging each other was always something he and Wendy did right, so when she proposes they compete to see who can throw the best bachelor or bachelorette party in Sin City, Noah takes the bait - and ups the stakes. Because this time around, he wants Wendy for keeps. And when you're fighting for love, all bets are off.

Jenny Holiday is a USA Today bestselling author who started writing at age nine when her awesome fourth-grade teacher gave her a notebook and told her to start writing some stories. That first batch featured mass murderers on the loose, alien invasions, and hauntings. (Looking back, she’s amazed no one sent her to a shrink.) She’s been writing ever since. After a detour to get a PhD in geography, she worked as a professional writer, producing everything from speeches to magazine articles. Later, her tastes having evolved from alien invasions to happily-ever-afters, she tried her hand at romance. She lives in London, Ontario, with her family. Wendy Liu finds herself in a problematic situation, her friend just made her a maid of honor for her wedding, which means she will be front and center at all the wedding festivities, and awfully close to the man she has spent years trying to avoid. She has harbored a serious crush on Noah Denning for years, but a long time ago he got a little too close to her heart and broke it, and since then she has kept him at a distance, often going out of her way to avoid him. She has her shield up, fully intact and protecting her heart, and she doesn't intend on letting him lure her in again... but sometimes love doesn't follow the rules!
After his father's passing Noah Denning vowed to take care of his mother and sister, even if it meant working 24-7 and giving up his personal life, to keep a roof over their heads and in supply of everything they could possibly need. Being a prosecutor in one of the biggest cities in the country means there is always someone breaking the law and keeping him in the courtroom fighting battles, but he never expected to return to Canada and fight a battle at his own sisters wedding. He knew reuniting with Wendy Liu might bring about some animosity, and friendly banter, but this go around she came prepared and is really putting him through the paces... which also reignites some long forgotten sparks.
It Takes To is a wonderfully crafted second chance romance that is full of moments to make you swoon, moments to make you giggle, and moments that will put a squeeze on your heart. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these two navigate through their little competition, throw around some heated banter, and of course find their path to love... it was purely magical! I must say it was quite an impressive first read, it kept me captivated from start to finish, and made me just curious enough to make a return visit and reunite with these endearing characters. Highly recommend this charming tale, it's sure to leave you smiling long after the last page is turned!!
