Callum Welsh perfected the art of hating me when we were two kids who believed we’d be forced into marriage.
He thought I wanted it, but my only wish had been for him to leave me alone.
Then one afternoon, he stole my first kiss.
Despite all he’d done, everything changed after that.
As the years passed, our hearts thawed, and he no longer hated me.
In fact, he loved me enough to make me his wife.
Until I ruined everything with one stupid mistake.
That hatred returned in the form of cruel words and even crueler deeds.
But we weren’t kids anymore.
I could handle his brand of venom.
He would be mine again, even if it cost me the remains of my heart.
Warning: contains cheating and an anti-hero who might make you throw your kindle.

Callum and Renee found themselves thrust together at an early age by their parents, who secretly wished that one day the two would unite the families in marriage, but the problem was the two of them detested one another. Always bickering over one thing or another, cringing every time their parents made them spend together in the spotlight for the sake of business; they just could not find common ground. Until one day when Callum decided that kissing Renee would solve everything, and once he took that kiss everything between them changed, and their parents little pipe dream started to take shape. From that day on they began to look at one another differently, appreciating each other's physical attributes, and quirky personalities, and before long they became inseparable. Once they turned eighteen, they decided they loved each other so much that it made sense for them to unite permanently and wed in secret, before they headed off to college together. Thinking this was the perfect way to start the next chapter in their young lives...
But once they arrived on campus, their perfectly crafted little world started to crumble under the pressures of expectations from their families and the football team, and their expectations for one another. Before long these two began to travel down different paths, momentarily forgetting that they were suppose to travel this new path together, and it winds up driving a wedge between them, one that is so great that they have serious doubts that they will ever find their way back to each other. That is until once again their overbearing parents stick their noses where they don't belong...
Pretty Venom is a heartbreaking tale that will draw you in from the very first page, and hold you hostage until the last; it is downright mesmerizing. With this being my first experience with this author's writing I wasn't sure what to expect, from the synopsis I was anticipating some angst, but I don't think anything could have prepared me for what I actually found... this book completely gutted me! This was a very intense read; constantly pushing and pulling at my emotions; squeezing my heart; stealing my breath; and leaving me to wonder how much more pain could these characters handle. It has been quite some time since I have had a book affect me the way this one did, it took me on a journey I never expected, and left a serious dent in my heart, one that I am sure I will be feeling for quite some time. This one isn't for the faint of heart; it's a deeply moving tale that will push personal boundaries, make you question your ability to forgive, and will fracture your heart to the point that recovery is questionable. Highly recommend!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title, and I am leaving my honest opinion.
