Something New From Allyson Charles!
Jane Willoughby's world crashed around her the day she found a simple postcard in her mailbox, her boyfriend left for college and decided for whatever reason that they were done, and didn't even have the decency to inform her of his decision face to face. So, now ten years later when she opens her door to find her that past staring back at her, all she wants to do is slam the door in his face and give him a little taste of his own medicine. But as much as she hate to admit she is going to have to face him at some point, because they are supposed to be co-hosting the annual fireman's ball. And the minute the planning gets underway old feelings start to resurface, and the sparks start to fly...
Chance McGovern has returned home to Pineville to take a new position as the Assistant Fire Chief, and try and get his messy life back on track. Going through a divorce is starting to take a toll on him, and he's ready for it to be over, and be able start to focusing on his new job and repairing his broken heart. What he doesn't need right now is to be forced to work with his ex-girlfriend on the annual Fireman's Ball, but at this point he doesn't have any other choice, so he tries to make the best of it and get through it. The problem is Jane isn't holding back her anger from the last ten years, and each argument and witty exchange they have seems to ignite all the sparks they once shared...and that's just a complication he doesn't need right now!
This was my first experience with Ms. Charles's work and I have to say that I really enjoyed it, so much so, it has inspired me check out more of her books and acquaint myself with more of endearing characters! Chance and Jane's story grabbed my attention right from the start, and had me flying right through the pages on a quest to find their happily ever after, and along the way I found myself smiling like a fool and blushing a few times too! I feel like these two were truly a match made in literary heaven, the chemistry between them was evident from the beginning and the driven natures they shared definitely created a impenetrable bond between them... watching them find their HEA was truly a literary treat for me!! I highly encourage you to give this one a try, it's sure to warm your heart and give you all the feels!!
