Genre: Standalone/Contemporary Romance
Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he’s cut off all ties to his former life so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how.
So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.
But Kaine’s gruff demeanor doesn’t scare her. She’s set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn’t mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband’s betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.
Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper’s lifetime—and Kaine’s worst fear.

Kaine Reynolds chose his property because of the solitude it offers, he is a man who likes his peace and quiet and his little hidden away cabin gives him just that. That is until, the house neighboring his property is sold to a city girl who has no idea what quiet means. The day she moves in the noise and distractions start, and it completely disrupts his life, in more ways than one. She is gorgeous and a distraction he does not need in his life right now, but his head and heart seem to be conflicting on that little tidbit.
This beautifully crafted story brings two wounded souls together at a time when they both think they need solitude, but what they really need is a little companionship and someone to bring them out of the darkness they have fallen into. Both have pasts haunting them, that they are trying to outrun, but what they really needed to do was face them head on, and with the support of one another they begin to do that. This is a slow burn romance, it is evident that these two have chemistry, but the hurt they are carrying around causes them to shy away from one another, and fight the sparks at every turn. Which means lots of angst! This was a tragic, affecting, and deeply felt addition to the Lark Cove series, one that I am certain is going to linger with me for a while. If you haven't made a visit to this series yet, I highly recommend that you remedy that, each story will not only bring on a serious case of the feels, but also introduce you to some truly amazing characters that will leave an imprint on your heart!
