The love birds in this story have been circling around one another for quite a long time, but neither have found the courage to make their move. For a long time Willa thought she was alone in her feelings, but that wasn't the case at all, Max just happens to be really good at faking his disinterest. When Willa experiences a home invasion and doesn't feel safe in her own home, it's Max that comes to the rescue, offering her a place to stay. Which becomes quite the curse for Max, it's easy for him to push her away at work and hide away from his feelings for her while he is alone at home... but he is no longer alone. She is there, a constant temptation, that he is losing the will to deny. This one little interaction sets them off on a path that neither were fully prepared for, but aren't willing to give up on. Max has baggage that most women would shy away from, but Willa sees the man hiding behind all of that, and she is willing to fight for him. It's a battle filled with emotion and angst that will give your heartstrings a work-out, but totally worth every ounce of torture! Another beautifully crafted addition to the series, highly recommend!
