David Ellis
David Ellis is a lawyer and the Edgar Allan Poe Award winner for Best First Novel for Line of Vision. Ellis attended Northwestern Law School and began his legal career in private practice in Chicago in 1993. He served as the House Prosecutor who tried and convicted Illinois Governor Blagojevich in the Impeachment Trial before the Illinois Senate. He was elected to the Illinois Appellate Court in 2014 and took office December 1, 2014. Ellis currently lives outside Chicago with his wife and three children.
The Munich Affair takes us to a time in history where a man's reign over his country put fear in the hearts and minds of every resident. He inflicted terror, no one was to resist his orders, and life was to be lived on his terms only. But there were a few who dared to resist, to question his orders, in an effort to find the truth, and this is a story about them.
The moment I read the synopsis for this one I was intrigued and also filled with a little reservation, as I have family who endured the reign of Hitler and for me reading any story about the man is hard. To know that your family fought to live during his reign, died by his rules, and endured his rath is a lot to digest. But nonetheless I cracked the cover and found a story that was impossible for me to put down. The pages flew by, the suspense continued to grow with every sentence I read, and the characters held my attention intently until the last page found me.
I have read books by both these authors in the past and I have to say this one was definitely different from anything I've read from them before, and as hard as it was to read at times, I have to admit that I really enjoyed it. It was such an unexpected and emotionally taxing journey, one that I know I will not forget anytime soon. I know folks have their opinions about the past, as they should, but don't let that keep you from taking a chance on this book. The pages will treat you to a stunning and mesmerizing story that is bound to keep you dangling from the edge of your seat the whole way through! Highly recommend!
