Maggie Fitzgerald has forbidden written all over her, not only is she the younger sister of a friend, but she is also too good and pure for a man like him. He has done things that haunt him, he's a little reckless, and he doesn't do the forever kind of thing. He just isn't cut out for that white picket fence kind of life, nor does he feel that he deserves it. He has been warned away from her, promised he'd keep his distance, but she just keeps putting herself on his path. And it's torturous, she's close enough to touch, to hold, and his heart keeps encouraging him to go for it, while his head says otherwise. He's got to stay away from her... it's what's best for both of them... but why does staying away feel so wrong?
Beneath the Stars is a beautifully written love story full of emotion, steam, pain and heart. These two will have you enamored with them upon first glance, there is this palpable connection between them that elicits a secret affair that you won't be able to pull yourself away from. They carefully dance around one another, trying to keep their desire under wraps, creating a push and pull between them that is quite torturous for them and the reader. Constantly coming close enough too touch, but letting their doubts and insecurities pull them away at the last second. They recognize the pain lurking in one another's eyes, bonding them in a way, and bringing them a comfort they have never known. Both want to protect one another when they see their past rearing up and trying to take control, but knowing it can lead to a place neither of them should want to go. It's a constant viscous circle of need, doing what is right, ignoring their feelings and survival of what haunts them.
I absolutely adored these two, while they had many differences they also had a undeniable chemistry that kept them circling around one another, and me hoping they'd eventually find their way. They had a lot of obstacles to overcome, and people standing in their way, but they proved that love always wins out. This might just be my favorite of the series, these two spoke to me on a different level than the others, and completely captured my whole heart. I cannot wait to see what is next for these characters, and where their stories will take me next. I highly recommend this series, each story comes brimming with passion and heartfelt emotion, and characters that will leave an indelible mark on your heart!
