When you wish on a wishing tree, you don’t always get what you want. If you’re very lucky, you get something even better . . .

When Tara Lynch’s husband was killed on military duty, her happily ever after died too. Although she still wishes on her hometown wishing tree, she’s no longer certain it makes dreams come true. All Tara wants is to somehow move forward without the love and family of her own she’d counted on.

Walker Cavanagh’s the new veterinarian in town. After his fiancée’s death in a car accident he’s sure was his fault, he won’t get close to another woman to get hurt, or hurt her. As for wishes, they won’t bring back his lost love.

Yet, as Tara and Walker work together on a fundraising event to train service dogs for veterans, they find they have more in common than they think—and are soon more than a little hot and bothered.

With some wishing tree magic, can Tara and Walker face their biggest fears and open their hearts to each other . . . and find a new beginning in Irish Falls?

Jen Gilroy grew up under the big sky of western Canada. After many years in England, she now lives in a small town in eastern Ontario where her Irish ancestors settled in the nineteenth century. She's worked in higher education and international marketing but, after spending too much time in airports and away from her family, traded the 9-5 to write contemporary romance to bring readers' hearts home.

A small-town girl at heart, Jen likes ice cream, diners, vintage style and all things country. Her husband, Tech Guy, is her real-life romance hero, and her daughter, English Rose, teaches her to cherish the blessings in the everyday.

The moment she first heard the news of her husbands passing, Tara Lynch lost her way. And everyday since, she has struggled to breath and get through the day without wondering how she is going to make it without him by her side. Sure he is there in every memory she carries, but it's just not the same. He was her everything, and now the dreams they had of a family and growing old together are gone... what is she supposed to do now? She has made her wishes, held out hope they would come true and that Adam would come back to her... but all the while knowing it wasn't possible. But then a stray little dog wanders onto to her path, and changes everything.

She never thought she would have a chance at love again, but that little dog brings a handsome stranger into her life, and suddenly things don't seem quite so hopeless. Walker Cavanagh understands her more than anyone else, heck she can see the same pain she carries radiating in his eyes. Their losses bond them in a way they never knew was possible. But they also both struggle with the idea of opening themselves up to love again knowing the possible outcome. Question is can they find the strength and courage to let love in again?

Between the pages of this perfectly crafted tale lies a story of hope, healing, love, and second chances. In this one you will meet Tara and Walker, both are harboring some serious hurt, and struggling to move on without their loved ones. But in each other these two find someone who they feel understands their pain, and also someone who can help them move on from the rut their loss has pulled them into. This isn't a insta-love kind of story, no this one takes time and lots of patience to grow. These two have a lot old feelings to sort out, and also have to muster the courage to travel down a path that they swore they never would again, but once they start to see there is light at the end of that road, it's smooth sailing, so to speak. This beautiful second chance story will give your heartstrings a nice little tug, and maybe even bring a few blushes too, these two sure knew how to stir up the heat. If you like small town second chance romances, with a hint of magic, then I highly suggest you pick this one up, it promises to leave your heart happy!
