Every town has its secrets...

In idyllic Alara Cove, a California beach town known for its sunny charm and chill surfer vibe, it’s graduation day at the elite Thornton Academy. At Thornton, the students are the worldly and overindulged children who live in gated enclaves with spectacular views. But the class valedictorian is Nikki Graziola, a surfer’s daughter who is there on scholarship. To the shock of everyone in the audience, Nikki veers off script while giving her commencement address and reveals a secret that breaks open the whole community. As her truth explodes into the light, Alara Cove will face a reckoning.

Nikki Graziola’s accusation shakes the foundation of Alara Cove, pitting her against the wealthy family whose money runs the town. Her new notoriety sends Nikki into exile for years, where she finds fame—but not fortune—overseas as a competition surfer...until a personal tragedy compels her to return to Alara Cove.

As Nikki struggles to rebuild her future, she finds that the people of the town have not forgotten her. But time has changed Alara Cove, and old friendships, rivalries, and an unexpected romance draw her back into the life of the beach town she’s never quite forgotten, and where joy and redemption may be possible after all.

“What happens when you dream one thing and something else comes your way? This story is rich with life and danger, and ultimately, hope. Fans of Colleen Hoover will gobble it up." —Barbara O'Neal, bestselling author of This Place of Wonder

"A Susan Wiggs novel is a masterclass in storytelling. Readers will savor sunny skies and perfect surf in this stunning new novel, but one thing is for sure: In this Beach Town, there is always more happening than meets the eye. One little speech and the need to right an injustice changes the course of  Nikki Graziola's life. At the time she felt as though she was doing the right thing, but now fifteen years later she questions whether she made the right choice or not. Had she kept her mouth shut back then would her life be the same now? Would she be dreading a return home now so much?

Welcome to Beach Town follows a young woman from her teen years through adulthood and centers around a life changing choice she made when she was young. As you start this story you will be introduced to young Nikki and learn about her life at the prestigious Thornton boarding school. It's easy to see that she doesn't really belong in that world, but a dear friend wanted her to have every chance at life, and not be denied because of her circumstances. She makes the best of her time as this school, becomes the valedictorian, and is about to start her next journey into college life. But as she was preparing her commencement speech a thought passed through her mind that it might be the perfect time to right a wrong, to share the truth about a friend... but her attempt to be a do-gooder backfires in the worst way.

Not soon after she left town and never looked back... but tragedy is about to bring her back home. Fifteen years have passed since she caused an uproar in town, and she wonders if folks have forgotten about it, or if they will run her out the minute she steps foot in town.

As always Ms. Wiggs has given us a well written story to lose ourselves in, one that steals all our thoughts while away from it, and leaves us with a warm heart. I loved the time I spent with the characters of Beach Town, each unique in their own right and each so welcoming and captivating. If you are looking for a summer read to lose yourself in, make it this one, I promise it will entertain you from beginning to end!
